The Harbord Public School Band Program has been running since 1997. There are five bands at the school:

  • Junior Band (Year 3)
  • Intermediate Band (Year 4)
  • Senior Band (generally Years 5)
  • Concert Band (generally Year 6)
  • The Jazz Ensemble (extension work for selected Year 4 - 6 instrumentation)

Junior, Intermediate, Senior and Concert Bands rehearse twice a week. Jazz Band rehearse an extra 1 hour per week.

The bands have had continued success with notable performances at school assemblies, the Northern Beaches Band Festival, School Cultural Concerts, Band Camp, the Spring Fair, Westfield School Spectacular, Playground Performances, Harbord Kindy, Warringah Mall and Battle of the Bands.

We have a large school and encourage large numbers into the Band Program as we believe all children should have access to music education.

Each band has a Band Parent Representative for communication between the Band Director and band members. Our preferred method of communication is via email. There is also a locked Band Box in the school office for written communication. This box is attended regularly. Please notify if your child is away from rehearsals or performances.

For further information take a look at the band information sheet (PDF 123 KB)

Any additional queries, please contact a band committee parent representative, the Band Director, Mrs Rose-Castle (in writing this can be done via the band box in the foyer), Mrs McKenzie or Mrs Hanlon.
