For parents

Parents are welcome to be involved at Harbord Public School by participating in activities, attending functions and helping out in a variety of ways in the classroom and within the school community.  

This may include helpers for literacy groups, reading (with groups or individuals), maths groups, art and craft activities or excursions. Parents may also be involved in extra curricular activities such as chess club, assisting with the coaching of sporting teams or accompanying students to tournaments, knockout competitions, gala days or band performances.

The sections at the sidebar outline some of the many opportunities for involvement.

New Online Resource for Parents: School A to Z http://www.schoolatoz.nsw.edu.au

This new resource provides practical advice about homework, tips on learning, wellbeing, technology and resources to help parents and carers support their child's social, physical and academic development.

School A to Z includes:

  • A-Z lists of English, maths and technology definitions
  • assignment starters on popular classroom topics.
  • printable homework help sheets
  • advice on student's wellbeing: behaviour, development, fitness, food, health issues
  • advice on cyber safety and how technology is used in the classroom
  • a school guide: tips for starting school, choosing a high school, learning support, assessment and reporting

  • forums to allow parents to share experiences, tips and hints online.
